2. Scope
These terms and conditions apply to every order placed by consumers on bellume.com. By placing an order, you confirm that you have read and accepted them. Wholesale and retail partners are subject to separate commercial terms.
3. Products and prices
We describe and photograph our products as accurately as possible. Many of our candles are hand-finished and have a natural, raw texture, so small differences in colour, surface and shape are part of their character and are not a defect.
All prices are in euro and include Belgian VAT. Shipping costs are shown separately before you confirm your order (see our Shipping & Returns page). In the case of an obvious pricing error, we are not bound by the incorrect price; we will contact you and you may cancel the order free of charge.
4. Ordering and the contract
After you place an order, you receive an automatic order confirmation by email. The contract is concluded at that moment. If a product turns out to be unavailable, we will inform you as soon as possible and refund any amount already paid within 14 days.
5. Payment
You can pay using the payment methods shown at checkout. Payments are processed securely by our payment providers; we do not store your card details.
6. Delivery
We deliver to the countries listed on our Shipping & Returns page. Our standard delivery time is 2–3 business days. Delivery times are indicative; if we cannot deliver within 30 days, you may cancel your order and receive a full refund. The risk of loss or damage passes to you when you, or a person you have designated, receive the parcel.
7. Right of withdrawal
As a consumer, you have the right to withdraw from your purchase within 14 days without giving any reason. This period starts on the day after you, or a person you have designated, receive the (last) product.
How to withdraw: inform us of your decision before the period ends by email to hello@bellume.com, stating your name, order number and the products concerned. You may use the model withdrawal form below, but this is not obligatory. Then return the products within 14 days of informing us to: Kaarsen Bouckaert BV – Bellume, Beukenhofstraat 113, 8570 Vichte, Belgium.
Costs: the direct cost of returning the products is at your expense.
Refund: we refund all payments received, including the standard delivery costs (not the extra cost of a more expensive delivery method you chose), within 14 days of receiving your withdrawal. We use the same payment method you used for the order. We may withhold the refund until we have received the products back or you have shown proof of return, whichever is earlier.
Condition of the products: you may handle the products only as you would in a shop to examine them. You are liable for any reduction in value resulting from further use – for example, a candle that has been lit can no longer be sold as new.
Exceptions: the right of withdrawal does not apply to (a) products made to your specifications or clearly personalised, such as personalised corporate gifts, and (b) sealed fragrance products, such as diffusers and home sprays, that have been unsealed after delivery and are not suitable for return for health or hygiene reasons.

8. Legal guarantee
All products are covered by the legal guarantee of conformity of two years from delivery. If a product is defective or does not match its description, please contact us at hello@bellume.com within two months of discovering the defect, preferably with a photo. We will repair or replace the product or, where that is not possible, offer a price reduction or refund.
The guarantee does not cover damage caused by incorrect use, failure to follow the burning and safety instructions, accidents or normal wear, nor the natural variations of hand-finished products described in section 3.
9. Safety
Never leave a burning candle unattended. Keep candles away from children, pets, draughts and flammable materials, and always follow the instructions on the product and packaging.
10. Liability
We are not liable for damage resulting from use of our products contrary to their instructions or intended purpose. Nothing in these terms limits or excludes our liability where this is not permitted by law, nor your statutory rights as a consumer.
11. Intellectual property
All texts, photographs, logos and designs on bellume.com belong to Kaarsen Bouckaert BV or its licensors and may not be used without our prior written permission.
12. Privacy
We process your personal data in accordance with our Privacy Policy and our Cookie Policy.
13. Complaints and disputes
If you have a question or complaint, please contact us first at hello@bellume.com; we aim to respond within a few business days. If we cannot reach a solution together, you can contact the Belgian Consumer Mediation Service (Consumentenombudsdienst / Service de Médiation pour le Consommateur), North Gate II, Koning Albert II-laan 8 bus 1, 1000 Brussels – www.consumentenombudsdienst.be.
These terms are governed by Belgian law. This does not deprive you of the protection of the mandatory consumer law of the country where you live. Disputes fall under the jurisdiction of the competent courts determined by law.
14. Changes
We may update these terms from time to time. The version published on our website at the time of your order applies to that order.
